1. You are looking at a tooth with more significant lingual pits on it than its counterpart in the other arch. How would you expect its labial side to compare?
a. It will have a straighter and flatter labial surface than its counterpart.
b. Its labial side will be more curved than its counterpart.
c. It will be narrower across than its counterpart.
d. It will have a much more cervical height of contour on the labial side than its counterpart does.
ANSWER: B. This is a maxillary tooth, which isn’t as flat and straight as a mandibular anterior.

2. The mandibular molars have a more occlusal lingual height of contour than their maxillary counterparts. How are they similar?
a. Both have equal amounts of buccal and lingual surface visible from the occlusal.
b. Both have their lingual height of contour in the middle 1/3.
c. Both have equal buccal cusps.
d. Both are wider faciolingually than mesiodistally.
ANSWER: B. Though the mandibular is slightly higher, both HOCs are in the same third.
